RNE’s Train Information System (TIS) now provides highly accurate, real-time train running forecasts for all trains on the European network via its new Network ETA module.
The AI-based feature is expected to significantly boost operational efficiency across the sector.
Universal Coverage and AI Precision
Available since November 2025, the Network ETA module analyses complex network variables and historical data to deliver reliable arrival times with high accuracy, covering the entire TIS ecosystem:
- National and international trains on the European railway network
- Passenger and freight services
- At important locations defined in TIS
Strategic Impact on Traffic and Resource Management
AI-driven forecasting is expected to greatly enhance operational efficiency for stakeholders across the sector:
- For infrastructure managers: Proactive traffic management and smarter conflict resolution.
- For operators & terminals: Enhanced resource management, from optimised locomotive rotations and connection to the road transport chain to more efficient staff scheduling.
A Data-Driven Future
The Network ETA module was developed under RNE’s ETA Programme with CEF co-funding and marks a major step forward in rail digitalisation efforts.
The development supports the European Single Railway Area by providing a transparent, unified data source for rail traffic, and empowering stakeholders to manage the European rail network with higher efficiency.
