What is the Network Coordinator?
The Network Coordinator supports the European Network of Infrastructure Managers (ENIM) in carrying out the operational tasks assigned under Regulation (EU) 2026/1184 on the use of railway infrastructure capacity in the Single European Railway Area.
RNE was appointed as Network Coordinator on 23 September 2026. In this role, RNE turns European priorities into coordinated processes, stakeholder engagement activities and digital tools for capacity and traffic management.
In this role, RNE as Network Coordinator:
- Supports cooperation among Infrastructure Managers (IMs) on European cross-border matters.
- Contributes to European Frameworks for capacity, traffic and performance management
- Acts as a first contact point for relevant enquiries for sector stakeholders;
- Provides common European digital solutions and services to supports capacity and traffic management
National responsibilities remain with the IMs, while the Network Coordinator supports cooperation and more coordinated processes across Europe.

The Network Coordinator supports closer cooperation across national and organisational boundaries. Together with ENIM, IMs and sector stakeholders, RNE helps turn common European objectives into coordinated processes and practical services.
