Traffic Management Roadshow visited Infrabel and ProRail

In the recent RNE Traffic Management roadshow Peter Šišolák, Head of Traffic Management, visited the joint meeting of Infrabel and ProRail on 19 February 2025.

The Traffic Management Roadshows are regular meetings between RNE representatives and high-level traffic management of members to inform them about the latest developments and further activities within the traffic management area and strengthen cooperation. The ultimate joint goal is to facilitate seamless, flexible, and future-proof European traffic management resulting in benefits for all stakeholders.

This roadshow meeting in Brussels was hosted by Infrabel and attended by the highest management level and leading representatives within the Traffic Management division of both companies.

The RNE representative Peter Šišolák presented an overview of traffic management activities pointing out the main goals focused on increasing the railway sector efficiency. The benefits for stakeholders were the subject of a very active discussion among the participants.

The exchange continued on the RNE members’ work on tasks coming from the draft Capacity Regulation. The RNE preparation work for the role of Network Coordinator and elaboration of the European Framework for traffic management was described. The high involvement of both companies’ representatives in this work was pointed out and appreciated helping to fulfil the challenging role and tasks.

The exchange on international contingency management continued in the presentation of the actual agreed procedures and rules. The common processes help to shorten the recovery after an international disruption and simplify the work of dispatchers.

In the next section of the exchange, the topic of removing language barriers in traffic management was opened. The achievements in areas of communication between infrastructure managers and railway undertakings were the subject of exchange. The results of ongoing language activities of Infrabel and ProRail significantly contribute to reaching the goals in this area.

During the exchange of topics, there was a lot of recognition and awareness that IMs all face the same challenges and that it could be wise to increase the exchange of experiences and developments.

The visit to the national control centre in Brussels closed the fruitful meeting with Infrabel and ProRail.
