The 21th RNE Technical Meeting, held in Bratislava from 16-19 June 2025, brought together over 60 railway professionals from Infrastructure Managers, Allocation Bodies, and Corridor One-Stop Shops across Europe.
This significant annual event plays a key role in supporting the seamless operation of cross-border rail services.
Optimising the upcoming year’s train paths
The rail sector aims to reduce delays, improve reliability and deliver transparent, efficient and interoperable rail transport for both passenger and freight traffic.
This is achieved by aligning train paths across different national networks during the annual path elaboration phase.
At the meeting, rail capacity management experts reviewed open issues for the 2026 draft timetable, compared international path requests, and discussed conflict prevention, all in time for the upcoming draft offer deadline (7 July 2025).
Addressing potential discrepancies in advance is crucial for a smooth, coordinated publication of international train paths.

Facilitating EU and sector goals
The ongoing EU legislative developments, specifically the Proposal for a Regulation on the use of railway infrastructure capacity in the SingleEuropean Railway Area (COM/2023/443), emphasise the importance of cross-border coordination in rail capacity management.
This focus continues to pave the way for a more integrated and customer-oriented European railway system.
RNE thanks all participants for their active engagement and is looking forward to the 22nd Technical Meeting in 2026.
