Two Major Milestones for the New Common Interface

The New Common Interface (CI) moves forward with two milestones: The European Union Agency for Railways (ERA) has issued the official TAF/TAP TSI compliance certificate for version 3.0.6, and a stable 3.1.0 release candidate has been delivered by RNE’s development partner Capgemini.

Enabling Seamless Digital Communication

The RNE Common Interface (CI) is the all-in-one tool for TAF/TAP TSI-compliant, secure, and efficient digital message exchange between railway stakeholders across Europe.

Acting as a peer-to-peer communication layer and data transformation tool between diverse IT systems, removes the need for system-specific protocols and enables smooth and harmonised cross-border communication.

TAF/TAP TSI Compliance Certification

As part of the continuous improvement of the CI, RNE has worked closely with the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA) to obtain the TAF/TAP TSI compliance certification. This certification ensures that the CI can be used in production environments across Europe.

On 28 August 2025, ERA officially issued the compliance certificate for the new CI version 3.0.6.

The certificate confirms that the TAF TSI functionality implemented by RailNetEurope is compliant with Regulation (EU) 2021/541 and its associated Technical Document TD-104.

The official certificate is available in the ERA Compliance Report “RNE New CI” on the ERA website.

Release Candidate 3.1.0

In parallel, RNE’s development supplier Capgemini has successfully delivered a stable 3.1.0 release candidate. This version has been operating in the test environment since 22 August 2025 and successfully proved it’s robustness, marking a new level of reliability in the hardest conditions.

The release comes after several postponements due to the identification of critical bugs during earlier testing. Based on the latest performance, it has now been decided to proceed with deployments using version 3.1.0 as the official release candidate.
