RNE Managing Board Defines MB Roles and Advances Network Coordinator Preparations

On 1 and 2 July 2025, the newly elected RNE Managing Board convened in Vienna for its annual Strategy Meeting. This year’s primary focus was on the Association’s preparatory actions toward assuming the role of Network Coordinator.

As part of this agenda, the Managing Board agreed on the specific responsibilities of each member, which will support RNE through its transition period toward becoming the Network Coordinator:

  • Presidency: Paul Mazataud (SNCF Réseau) will continue to serve as President, with an additional focus on RNE’s Financing and Funding.
  • Capacity Management: Oliver Sellnick (DB InfraGO), Weronika Karbowiak (PKP PLK S.A.), and José Estrada Guijarro (ADIF) will lead this area.
  • Network Coordinator Project & ENIM Relations: Alfred Pitnik (ÖBB Infra) and Linda Thulin (Trafikverket) will oversee these activities.
  • Legal Matters: Sven Gjeruldsen (Bane NOR) and Stephan Schenk (SBB) will take the lead.
  • IT: Michel Geubelle (Infrabel) will continue to be responsible for RNE IT.
  • Traffic Management: Stefano Castro (RFI) and Tomas Jonikaitis (LTG Infra) will oversee this domain.
  • Market and Performance: This area will be led primarily by Radek Čech (SZCZ). Sub-functions will be handled as follows:
    • Corridor Management and ETCs: Oliver Sellnick
    • Stakeholder Management: Linda Thulin
    • EIM and CER Relations: Sven Gjeruldsen and Alfred Pitnik, respectively

Other key discussions centred around the drafting of the European Frameworks for Capacity and Traffic Management, enhanced stakeholder engagement, and future governance and financing structures.

The participants outlined the need for overarching efficiency measures to meet the timelines indicated in the draft Capacity Regulation. These efforts aim to ensure that the sector—particularly Infrastructure Managers and the European Network of Infrastructure Managers (ENIM)—receives the necessary support.

A strategic workshop held during the meeting enabled MB members to exchange ideas and define practical steps for moving forward.
